Feb 21, 2025: Testing for mycotoxins; and giving our muscles something to do

Happy Friday! Each week, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson, and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.
No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
Two Nano Health Habits
Test for mycotoxins. If you’re feeling unexpectedly exhausted, it might be worth considering if mycotoxins are in your home office, particularly if your environment has recently changed. For example, have you just moved home? Has there been flooding in your area recently?
Mycotoxins are produced by molds, which are a type of fungi. Ask your doctor for a test if you suspect molds might be affecting your health.
Give our muscles something to do. Use it or lose it absolutely applies to our muscles. Take the stairs, walk, lift weights, garden, dance, cycle. Take your pick.
Our muscle decline starts from about the age of thirty, with an average muscle loss of three to eight percent per year, and even more after the age of sixty. But we don’t have to accept that fate. Muscle is regenerated with exercise, no matter our age.
One Lesson
Old grain, new focus. The ancient grain sorghum, from Africa, is getting more attention in the search for carbs that don’t spike our blood sugar, and is gluten free. Is this the new quinoa?
Sorghum is also slow to digest, so it makes you feel fuller for longer, and it gives our gut microbiome a lovely meal too. See if you can find it.
