April 18, 2025: Be choosy about oils & how DNA keeps track of our age

Happy Friday! Each week, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson, and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.
No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
Two Nano Health Habits
Be choosy about oils. Oils are an important part of nutrition. What oils do you cook with? Monounsaturated oils, such as avocado oils, have a high smoke point and are great for cooking.
Olive oil is another healthy, monounsaturated oil that’s perfect for salads. Extra virgin oil starts to smoke at 320 degrees Fahrenheit, which is not that hot, so best used for salads and dressings.
Taste of turmeric. Inflammaging is a relatively new term that describes how long-term inflammation ages us. It can be low lying.
Adding turmeric to a meal or protein shake each day is a powerful anti-inflammatory
One Lesson
Our DNA keeps track of our age: A new study shows that our DNA accurately tracks how long we have been alive. The results support the concept of our bodies as biological computers running on DNA software that becomes hard to read over time.
