Dec 27, 2024 – Good fats in the kitchen, Alzheimer’s is not your destiny, and a free masterclass
Happy Friday! Each week, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson, and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.
No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
I also have a free masterclass on our metabolic blueprint and how our DNA affects our weight, energy, sleep and more. You can watch it at: https://juleswalters.com/
Two Nano Health Habits
Good fats in the kitchen: Monounsaturated fats are good for brain health. We can cook with monounsaturated fats such as avocado oil, which has a high smoke point, while extra virgin olive oil is better for using directly on salads, as it has a lower smoke point.
Resting heart rate: A good number to know is your resting heart rate. That means the number of times your heart beats a minute when you’re sitting still. Your blood pressure monitor will tell you.
A healthy heart rate is between sixty and one hundred beats per minute. What’s yours?
One Lesson
Alzheimer’s is not your destiny: Even if both your parents had the condition, Alzheimer’s is not your destiny.
Our genes influence our brain health, particularly apolipoprotein E, known as APOE, which makes a protein to help move around cholesterol in the brain.
A genetic test will show your inherited risk of developing Alzheimer’s. You can make lifestyle changes if you’re at higher risk of the condition.
