Oct 04, 2024 – Growing food, being mindful of protein –– and a free book till Sun Oct 6th

Green shoots

Happy Friday! Each week, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson, and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.

No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.

My new book Nano Health Habits is just out, and free on Amazon until Sunday, 6th October. It’s here on Amazon US, Amazon Australia and Amazon UK. I’ve summarized over 100 healthy habits in the book that are simple and worth considering. Do share the link with anyone in your network, who might appreciate a free copy.

In the meantime, here are two nano habits for the week:

Two Nano Health Habits

Grow your own vegetables: Do you have a little space where you could grow your own vegetables? Even a window box will work for lettuce if it gets sun. Lettuce is one of the easiest vegetables to grow.

Be mindful of your protein intake: How much protein should we eat a day? That’s a great question. The current US recommendation is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. That’s the minimum! We need protein to stay strong.

The average American woman weighs about 77 kilos, so that would be a minimum of 62 grams of protein a day. How much protein are you getting on an average day?

One Lesson

Don’t expect your primary care doctor to talk about nutrition: One of the sad facts about our healthcare system, is that doctors receive little training in nutrition.

In four years of medical school, most will spend less than 20 hours on the power of good food, some way less than that –– despite the overwhelming health benefits.

It’s up to us to be the CEOs of our health, especially when it comes to what we eat.

One Quote
