March 28, 2025: What to eat for a long & healthy life; and under pressure

Happy Friday! Each week, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson, and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.
No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
Two Nano Health Habits
Under pressure. Forty-five per cent of American adults have high blood pressure. What are your numbers?
You can measure your blood pressure at home. Validatebp.org, a website published by the American Medical Association, lists validated blood pressure monitors you can find online or at your local pharmacy.
Use third-party-tested supplements. Supplements are not regulated to the same high standards as pharmaceutical products in the US. Supplements are generally recognized as safe by the FDA, in the same category as food.
So, it’s important that a third party has checked that the supplements actually contain what they claim to contain. It will be on the packaging if it’s been third-party tested.
One Lesson
What to eat for a long and healthy life. A new study of over 100,000 people shows what to eat to increase your chances of a long and healthy life.
IN are fruits and vegetables, whole grains, unsaturated fats, nuts, legumes and low-fat dairy products.
OUT are trans fats, sodium, sugary drinks, and red or processed meats. Here are the findings:
