August 30, 2024 – Vinegar before carbs, eating the rainbow and choosing your tribe
Each Friday, I’m sharing two nano health habits, a lesson and an inspirational quote, to ponder on your health journey.
No one’s yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
Two Nano Health Habits
Vinegar before carb-rich meals: Sugar spikes in our blood age us. So if you want a carbohydrate-rich meal like pasta, try taking a tablespoon of vinegar about 10 minutes before your meal. The acetic acid in vinegar slows down the rate at which we burn sugar. You can dilute it in water.
Eat the rainbow: A visual way to remember healthy eating is to eat the colors of the rainbow: greens like spinach and lettuce for magnesium, red tomatoes and oranges for vitamin C, and yellow bananas for potassium.
One Lesson
Choose your tribe: We are a social species and usually the average of the people around us. If a close friend starts exercising regularly, you are far more like to exercise yourself.
Who you spend time with becomes your future.
One Quote
“There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will have truly defeated age.” Sophia Loren
